Affiliate links
No affiliate links are live in the preview. These are the rules for when authorized links arrive.
Draft. This page is a plain-language starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It must be reviewed before the site goes live.
The short version
ShoeOwl will use affiliate links only after a retailer or network authorizes them. If you later click one and buy, the store may pay us a small commission. You will pay the same price as someone who visits the store directly.
Step by step
- You click Shop. Once enabled, the link will take you to the store's own page and identify ShoeOwl as the referrer.
- The store, or the affiliate network it uses, remembers the tag. This is usually done with a cookie in your browser.
- You decide whether to buy. You check out with the store. We are not part of the sale, and we never see your payment details.
- If you buy within the store's time window, the store pays us a percentage of the sale. The window and the percentage are set by each store.
- If you return the shoes, the commission is usually taken back. Returns are between you and the store.
What it costs you
Nothing extra. The commission comes out of the store's margin, not out of your pocket.
What we never let it change
- Which shoes we show. A shoe is not added or hidden because of what a store pays.
- The order. Shoes are ordered by how well they match what you asked for, then by price.
- The offer data. We will show authorized data as received and make its freshness clear.
What we can and cannot see
When links go live, we may see that a click or attributed sale happened and how much commission it paid. We will not receive your payment details from the store.
Where you will see it
Any future store link that can pay us will be labelled near the link, with the same disclosure in the footer.
